Grand Island Memory Walk to be held tonight
The Grand Island Memory Walk, a fundraiser for the Great Plains Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, will be at 6 tonight at the Northwest High School track.
People may register at the walk and participate. Nicole Campbell, an organizer, said anyone is welcome to participate in the event.
She said motorcycle riders and the Northwest Drum Line will lead the walkers at the event. In addition, those raising $100 are eligible to win two skybox tickets to Nebraska's football game with Baylor.

Impaired drivers to be focus of special enforcement effort
The Nebraska State Patrol Troop C in Grand Island, with the Kearney Police Department and the Buffalo County Sheriff's Department, will conduct a special enforcement effort designed to take impaired drivers off our roads.
Friday evening, troopers and local law enforcement officers will conduct a driving under the influence checkpoint along with high visibility patrols in and around Kearney.
The special enforcement effort is paid for, in part, with a $2,500 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.
