Members sought for state health boards

LINCOLN —

The State Board of Health is seeking 34 members of the public and of certain professions to serve on several professional boards that are responsible for license privileges to health care providers.  Public representatives or professionals are needed to serve on the following boards:

-- Board of Cosmetology, Electrology, Esthetics, Nail Technology, and Body Art (cosmetologist member)

-- Board of Emergency Medical Services (EMT-paramedic, physician assistant, physician and public members)

-- Board of Registered Environmental Health Specialists (four environmental health specialist members)

-- Board of Hearing Aid Instrument Dispensers and Fitters (audiologist, and hearing aid instrument and fitter members)       

-- Board of Massage Therapy (massage therapist and public members)

-- Board of Medical Nutrition Therapy (physician and medical nutrition members)

-- Board of Medical Radiography (four medical radiographer and one limited radiographer members)      

-- Board of Medicine and Surgery (medical school faculty and osteopathic physician members)

-- Board of Mental Health Practice (certified marriage and family therapist, certified professional counselor and public members)

-- Board of Nursing (nursing service administrator member, practical nurse and public members)

-- Board of Nursing Home Administration (physician, registered nurse and public members)

-- Board of Occupational Therapy Practice (occupational therapist member)

-- Board of Pharmacy (hospital pharmacist member) 

-- Board of Psychologists (psychologist member)

Professionals who are actively engaged in the practice of any of the above professions will be appointed to fill vacancies on the boards. Individuals who can represent a consumer perspective and are not licensed in the particular areas that the board serves will be appointed to fill public member vacancies.
