GRAND ISLAND —

GILT holding auditions for opening production

Grand Island Little Theatre will hold auditions Sunday and Monday for "The Foreigner," the opening production of the 2008-2009 season.

The auditions will be from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at College Park.

"The Foreigner" is a comedy by Larry Shue. The cast includes five males, ranging in age from 15 to 55, two with English accents and three with southern accents. There are also two female roles, one age 18 to 30 and the other age 40 to 70. They both have southern accents.

"I fell in love with this show when I first read the script," show director Jim Williams said. "Not only is it funny, but it will be an exciting challenge to bring it together for Grand Island audiences. It's a perfect way to start the season."

Williams is making his directorial debut with this production. Production staff, including backstage and set building help, is also needed. For more information, call Williams at (308) 210-2050.

Peace Lutheran hosting middle school dance

Peace Senior Teens, the senior high youth ministry at Peace Lutheran Church, is hosting its monthly Peace Dance on Friday.

The dance is from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. and is for students in grades six to eight. The cost is $4. The dress code is the same as that in the Grand Island Public Schools.

Proceeds from the dance support a portion of the youth ministry events of the senior high group, such as its recent mission trip to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

Peace Lutheran Church is at 1710 N. North Road. For more information, call 384-5673.
