Man killed in accident near Ravenna I.D.’d

Authorities have identified the man killed in a pickup-motorcycle accident Wednesday as Eugene F. Schutte of Lincoln.

Schutte, 70, was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on Highway 2 when it hit a 1995 Chevrolet pickup being driven south on Navaho Road by Gordon Bernet, 84, of rural Ravenna.

The accident occurred at about 4:25 p.m. two miles east of Ravenna on Highway 2. The Buffalo County Sheriff's Department and the Kearney Police Department are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

According to a press release from the Buffalo County attorney's office, Schutte was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy was conducted Thursday morning in Lincoln.

Bernet was taken to St. Francis Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries, according to the release.
