A sea of 13,000 Christmas cookies will be waiting for hungry buyers on Sunday during the Grand Island Area Habitat for Humanity’s 11th annual Christmas Cookie Walk.
Dana Jelinek, Habitat executive director, said a regular base of volunteer bakers, along with their friends, make the goodies. Local churches also promote the annual event, and people have called the Habitat office offering to take part in the baking, she said.
