Grand Island agreed to hire a lobbyist Tuesday night -- but it's the same lobbyist representing Grand Island's competitor in the bid for a new veterans home.
The city council voted 7-3 to hire Lincoln lobbying firm O'Hara Lindsay Government Affairs to represent the Greater Nebraska Cities of Grand Island, Hastings, Kearney, Lexington, Holdrege and North Platte before the Nebraska Legislature. The GNC is to pay $36,000 a year for the representation, with each city contributing a set amount based on population. Grand Island's fee is $12,000.
