Hope Harbor has named Brad Ogden of Grand Island as its 2011 Hope Harbor Volunteer of the Year. Ogden has volunteered at Hope Harbor by helping to mow the yard, cooking for the residents and recruiting others to volunteer as well.
Army National Guard Pfc. Linsey A. Lautenschlager has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Lautenschlager is the daughter of Charlene Lautenschlager of Palmer and granddaughter of Shirley Reimers of Grand Island. She is a 2007 graduate of Palmer High School and earned an associate degree in 2010 from Central Community College-Grand Island.
As I think about Christmas 2011, thoughts of Christmas past and columns I have written about this wonderful holiday whirl through my mind. When I remember how our family has celebrated the holiday, I know it will be different this year, without Bill.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Jonathan A. Bliss graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Bliss is the son of Barb Crouse of Aurora. He is a 2011 graduate of Aurora High School.
