Ashaunte "Bear" Jones said Friday that he would be joining the Nebraska basketball program this fall.
Jones, a 6-foot-4, 19o-pound guard from Fort Wayne, Ind., made an official visit to Lincoln this past weekend.
"It was just a situation where the coaching staff was great and the players were wonderful, too, just as people and players also," Jones told the Lincoln Journal Star. "And I think they're headed in the right direction."
Jones attended Hargrave Military Academy last year in Virginia, but only played half a season because of a severe ankle injury.
As a high school senior at Fort Wayne North Side, Jones was the state's third leading scoring at 28 points per game while shooting about 42 percent from the field.
Jones committed to Indiana in the fall of 2006, but instead went to Hargrave. Jones then signed to play at Oregon State, but was given a release after a coaching change at the school.
