GRAND ISLAND —

Above-normal rainfall and cooler temperatures this month are playing havoc with farmers trying to get into the fields to finish corn planting. According to the weekly Nebraska Weather and Crop report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service, Nebraska Field Office, corn planting was rated at 55 percent complete as of May 11.

Heartland Lutheran's Matthew Wagnitz qualified for his third-straight state tournament by firing a day's best 87 Monday at the Class D, District 3 tournament at a wind-swept Indianhead Golf Club.

Aurora holds off Northwest, Adams Central to win B-2 crown

HASTINGS —

Aurora shot 335 to win the Class B, District 2 title Monday at Southern Hills Country Club near Hastings. Northwest finished second at 340 and Adams Central third at 341.
