Dawn Mallette, a Grand Island Senior High graduate, recently received the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Education Community - Outstanding University Teacher Education Award.
Mallette is the coordinator of the Family and Consumer Sciences program at Colorado State University. Besides being a full-time educator, she is also involved in local, state and national advisory boards and civic committees.
She is the daughter of Ron and Theresa Kuzelka of Grand Island and graduated from GISH in 1978.
Prior to being at Colorado State, Mallette taught at Fort Hays State University as a graduate assistant and was a junior and senior high school teacher before earning her master's degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her doctorate degree from Colorado State.
