KEARNEY -- Central Community College has announced the graduation of seven more students from the Central Nebraska Welding Scholarship Program in Kearney.

The program was designed to train people unfamiliar with welding so they can be productive welders in the manufacturing environment.

The just-completed training class began on Aug. 1 and ran five weeks. The students met three nights per week, training until 10 p.m. each night. The classes were held at Kearney High School's shops and taught by Dennis Senff, a welding instructor with Central Community College.

Students graduating from the class were Corey Ash, Adam Todd, Michael Lierman, Timothy Moore, Tyler Stumbough, David Torres and Crystal Vansyckle. All seven students have been hired by Chief Agri-Industrial Division in Kearney.

The next class is planned for sometime in January, and there is room for 10 students. Those interested in becoming students should contact Nebraska Workforce Development's office in Kearney at (308) 865-5404 or make direct contract with one of the metal fabricators in their community.
