High school students win awards at FBLA conference
Forty-nine Nebraska Future Business Leaders of America students recently received 26 of the Top 10 Awards at a national leadership conference in Atlanta, Ga.
Students placing first, second or third in state competition competed June 26-29 at the national conference.
Several students from Central Nebraska were among the Top 10 finishers in various categories.
Earning second-place awards were Clint Kroeker of Heartland High School, Accounting II; and Tori Bittinger of Heartland High School, Word Processing I. Third place awards went to Brianna Rader of Heartland High School, Accounting II; and Ben Versaw of Grand Island Northwest, Technology Concepts.
Lacy Nunnenkamp, Michaela Ziola and Ashlyn Lackore of Aurora High School earned eight place in Emerging Business Issues; Connor Jensen, Evin Lackore and Janet Morris of Aurora High School took eighth place in Entrepreneurship; and Jenna Woitaszewski of Wood River High School placed eighth in Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure.
Abbie Davis, Katrina Timmerman and Martin Rodriguez of Wood River High School and Richard Chen of Gibbon High School placed ninth in Parliamentary Procedure; and Nolan Gauthier and Robyn Johnson of Aurora High School placed 10th in Business Ethics.
Otheres earning awards were Keri Novacek of Cedar Rapids High School, National Business Achievement Awards -- America Level (top award in this four-level program); and Gibbon High School and Litchfield High School, Gold Seal Chapter Award of Merit.
Clark recognized for volunteerism
AURORA -- Molly Clark, 18, of Aurora is one of nearly 2,000 kids nationwide to be recognized in the eighth annual Kohl's Kids Who Care Scholarship Program.
She is among 14 youth from Nebraska who will receive $50 gift cards and recognition certificates from Kohl's. Those winners could go on to receive a $1,000 regional scholarship that Kohl's will award this month.
Winners were chosen in honor of the good deeds they performed in their communities through volunteerism. The Kids Who Care Scholarship Program is part of Kohl's Cares for Kids, a program focused on improving the lives of children.
