Optometrist practicing at south Wal-Mart

Dr. Dustin Suminski is now practicing as an optometrist at the south Wal-Mart Vision Center at 3501 S. Locust St.

He provides comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fittings and routine screenings for diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration.

Suminski is a 1999 graduate of Ord High School. He received his bachelor of science in biology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2003 and graduated in 2008 from Indiana University with a doctorate of optometry.

He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Nebraska Optometric Association.



Motorsports Sales names Rookstool manager

Kent Rookstool has been named manager at Motorsports Sales and Service, 721 Claude Road.

He will be in charge of general management functions of the business.

Rookstool previously worked for T&R Distributing as shipping manager and in sales and repairs.

YWCA of Adams County appoints new Zone director

The YWCA of Adams County has appointed Wendy O'Neill as Zone director.

The Zone is a free after-school program for middle and high school students in the Hastings area. The Zone is funded by grants and contributions.

O'Neill has an associate's degree at Central Community College, majoring in human development, and is working toward her bachelor's in criminal justice through Bellevue University.

She works full time at South Central Behavioral Services as a youth and family specialist, providing services to high-risk youth, in a therapeutic foster care setting.

O'Neill moved to Hastings from England in 1999. She has four daughters and two grandchildren.



Hairstylist joins staff at Empower

Chelsey Linnemeyer has joined the staff at Empower Life Spa and Salon, 1451 N. Webb Road, as a hairstylist.

She specializes in artistic designs and provides men's and women's hairstyling, manicures, pedicures and other services.

Linnemeyer graduated from Xenon International School of Hair Design. She has also attended BioElements training, Peel's fall and spring shows and other occupational training.

She has won the Men's Haircut Award and the Artistic Design Award.

Rainforth wins Quality Care Service Award

Patricia Rainforth, service coordinator and nurse at Wel-Life at Kearney, has received the Quality Care Service Award from Lantis Enterprises, which manages the assisted-living facility.

She was nominated for the award by fellow staff members, residents and residents' families.

Rainforth was recognized for her attendance, solid performance reviews, providing quality care to residents and families, enthusiasm, problem solving, customer service and teamwork.

She also received the Leadership Award and is now eligible for Lantis Enterprises' highest honor, the Service Excellence Award.

Rainforth has been service coordinator and nurse at Wel-Life for three years. She also serves as parish nurse for the Doniphan and Rosedale United Methodist Churches.

She and her husband, Dan, live in the Doniphan area.



Play It Again Sports owners attend conference


Barry and Deb Schultz, owners of Play It Again Sports in Grand Island, attended the national Play It Again Sports summer conference and trade show July 23 through 26 in Minneapolis.

This year's event was not only an opportunity for franchisee training but also a celebration of the company's 25th anniversary.

Attendees learned about businesses and customer relations strategies, sporting goods industry trends and product information.
