Tim Wojcik, the Rev. Michael McDermott and Dr. Suzette Woodward have been appointed to the St. Francis Medical Center Board of Directors.
Their terms began on July 1.
They replace outgoing board members Dr. Karen Higgins and Scott Zana, both of whom served on the board for nine years; and Dr. Doug Boon, who, as president of the medical staff, served for two and a half years.
Wojcik is senior vice president and branch manager of Five Points Bank's Stolley Park Road branch. He currently serves on the Grand Island Area Economic Development Corp. Board of Trustees. He chaired the Heartland United Way board in 2000. He is a Grand Island Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
McDermott serves as pastor of Resurrection Catholic Church in Grand Island and is chancellor for the Grand Island Diocese. He is a past member of the St. Francis Medical Center board. McDermott serves on the Institutional Ethics Committee at St. Francis, the Third City Community Clinic Board of Directors and the Diocesan Sexual Misconduct Review Board.
Woodward is a pathologist with Pathology Specialists. She began serving as medical staff president for St. Francis on July 1 and serves as ex officio to the board of directors in that capacity. Woodward is a member of the College of American Pathologists and the American Society of Clinical Pathology. She is a member of the Nebraska Every Woman Matters Advisory Committee and the Hall County Medical Society Scholarship Committee.
The board has also named its officers for the 2008-09 fiscal year.
Barry Sandstrom, president and chief executive officer of Home Federal Bank, has been selected as chairman. Mark Miller, president and CEO of Eakes Office Plus, will serve as vice chairman. G. David Gruendel, clinical psychologist, was named as treasurer.
Other members of the St. Francis board include Luris de Calero; Sister Sally Duffy; Dr. Scott Frankforter; Lisa Katzberg; Dr. Timothy Knudsen; Susan Koenig; Dan McElligott, hospital president, ex officio board member; Daniel Naranjo; Dee Price; Judy Smith; and Dr. Kenneth Vettel.
