St. Francis Medical Center has received its second Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska Recognition for Quality award.
The award stems from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska's desire to recognize network providers for their participation and achievement in health care quality improvement initiatives. They include standards the federal government, health insurers, national health care and medical professional organizations use to measure, report, improve and monitor patient care.
St. Francis earned the award by active participation in the 5 Million Lives Campaign -- Fully Committed 2007.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska insures or provides benefit administration to nearly 700,000 people. All of the non-governmental, acute-care hospitals in Nebraska are part of the network, as are 93 percent of providers.
