Mabel Real will be celebrating her 88th birthday on Oct. 5, 2008.
She was born in 1920 to Christian and Marie Petersen at Mason City. She married Roy Real in 1939, and to them three sons were born, Erwin (deceased), Edwin and Frances of Giltner and Lyle and Susan of St. Louis. She has five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
