Both teams advanced into this morning's 9 a.m. semifinals. The No. 1 team of junior Hannah Bolton and freshman Jessica Wojcik will face Kearney Catholic's Nickola Messbarger and Molly Heeney. GICC's No. 2 team of Ashley Chalupa and Jessica Bender will play Kearney Catholic's Ellen Baldwin and Janna Montgomery in the semifinals.

Starting pitcher Kirby Wells and Grand Island try to finish off their postseason to remember against second-seeded Millard West (30-7) in the championship game at 10 a.m. Friday. If the Islanders lose, a second winner-takes-all game will follow.
